Ambigram – I love you
This is an old design. I made it just in time for the Valentine’s as part of our small business. “I love you” was the best choice for the business idea. What else would sell during Valentine’s but love. But there were other options so i might work on them next time.
Some parts of the design was easy while some was really hard. It took me 2 weeks to finalize our design.
The first part of the inversion was easy. Turning i-l to a letter U was simple. I just need to work on a good font to make it readable. The dot was placed in such a way that it will close the loop for the letter U. Then the letter o was still letter o when inverted. What took me long was working on v-e to y inversion. This is the best solution I make.
The problem here was the e to y. A part of the letter y looked like an a. I made several attempts to make it look better but I cant avoid the problem. So a quick solution was to change the position of the word you. And that trick worked.
I moved the word you below. This made the little loop below unnoticeable and I avoid the letter a problem. I loved it since it was simple but yet it worked.
But still I wanted some challenge. I found some ambigrams that were arranged in a circle so I thought it might look good on this one too. So I made a circular ambigram for this one too.
I liked this one but we thought the second design would be easier to market since the word “I love you” was very visible. So we went for that design. Later I added some ornaments to make it more attractive. We placed it on pillows and sold them last Valentines.

We didn’t earn much. But it was a good experience selling them online and to friends. And a lot of learning about business.
I also posted this design at cafepress.com. Just a try. I might set up more of my design here.
We want to create something for the summer. It would be really a good opportunity to sell stuffs again. But we decided to take a rest for a while. But I still work on ambigrams. I had a few clients who wanted me to work on a design for them. The commissions were rewarding. Hopefully I get more ambigram requests in the coming months.
